ITM Universe has evolved a strong base to have Institute- Society Interaction to fulfil its social responsibilities and obligations.
Linkage with Community
Basic technology support for social development and better habitat in twenty villages around ITM Universe. As per our theme we have the following action plan:
Base line survey in 20 Villages and their need assessments. Out of need assessment we will identify technology oriented priority area e.g. Water resource management better sanitation facilities and environmental engineering support *Solar based energy generation programme *Computer based awareness programs *Health management support for better health delivery of primary & secondary Level *Vocational training program for youth, women and elderly persons under economic generation program *Legal aid and social justice supporting programs *Disability management program.
Community Service Cell
The cell has been established to plan, implement and monitor the community development programs and to organize social work. The main work of this cell is to assign projects to different departments and facilitate them to engage themselves in community service activities.
Collaboration with Snehalaya and Roshini
Snehalaya as the name denotes truly is a Home with love for disabled and destitute children, homeless women and elderly people. The Dept. of Chemical Engg. has signed an MOU with Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Gwalior to provide internet access to Snehalaya Volunteers at ITM Campus. Moreover it was agreed to provide a fully functional OPD facility for Snehalaya children. The students of ITM Universe are encouraged to visit Snehalaya & extend their help to resident children. Roshni is a project started in 1998 by Ramakrishna Ashram, a non-Governmental organization, to bring rehabilitation services to neurologically challenged children and adults in Gwalior region. Dept. of Electronics & Communication has taken initiative to participate contribute to awareness programs run by Roshni. The dept. also shares in the medical clinic & village programs and conducts training sessions for nursing & B.Ed. students.
Education Programme for Village Children
Department of Computer science & Department of Information Technology have started educational programme for children of Turari Village near ITM Universe, Gwalior. They have organized several camps for children education, awareness about computer education & environment problems.
Awareness Program on Malaria
Department of Comp. Science & Information Technology has organized an awareness program on Malaria in August 2007. Shri Ravi Gupta, Add. Collector Gwalior and Shri R.K. Soni, Dist. Malaria Officer were the Chief Guest of the program.
Women Empowerment Cell
The Institute of Technology & Management has established a Woman Empowerment Cell with the following objectives:
- To promote a culture of respect and equality for female gender.
- The provision of opportunities and programs for female gender to be financially, mentally and emotionally empowered so as to promote their growth as individuals in their own right.
- To make them aware about the guidelines of Supreme Court and to ensure that sexual harassment is treated as an unacceptable social behavior within the institution and the society.
The inaugural ceremony of the cell was held on 12th July 2007 in the august presence of Dr. Urmila Tripathi, Asst. Prof. GRMC Gwalior. This also being the occasion for ‘world population day’ an insightful presentation about population growth & its implication was given by Dr. Tripathi. Afterwards the team members along with the medical advisor of institute visited a nearby village Turari to spread awareness about the same among villagers. In addition to this the cell also organized a special talk on “Problems of Adolescence” on 23rd August 2007 for students of ITM Universe.
On the occasion of Literacy day an essay writing competition was organized on the topic “The impact of Literacy on Women Empowerment”. Students actively participated & came out with some creative observations to the admiration of judges.
Blood donation camp was organized by NSS-ITM Universe on 17th March 2009 in association with Blood Bank J.A.H. group of hospitals, Gwalior, M.P. Dr. K.S. Mangal, Head Blood Bank was leading the team. Students of ITM Universe donated 41 units of blood of different groups. By looking to the response of the students Dr. K.S. Mangal and his team was very happy and it is decided that such camps will be organized quarterly in ITM Universe. This will create a healthy practice among the students and the needy patients will be benefited.
